Mainnet Beta Fibre server setup

Dear partners and node operators,

Before v10 activates next week, you can start setting up your Fibre servers.

Fibre prerequisites

  • A CPU that passes these tests along with 32GB RAM.

  • You can check your disk and bandwidth requirements here.

  • Remote signer connection between Fibre and the node is enabled via mutual TLS (mTLS).

  • Object storage is optionally supported (eg. S3 buckets):

    • Switching shard storage docs are here.

    • Migration steps to another bucket are here.

  • Same-host plaintext setups must use an IP literal (e.g. 127.0.0.1:26669); localhost is no longer accepted.

  • The node’s application gRPC endpoint is enabled (default 127.0.0.1:9090).

  • The validator node’s privval gRPC endpoint is enabled.

  • The fibre listen port (default 7980) is reachable.

For best endorsement latency, colocate your object storage with the Fibre server, and keep Fibre close to your validator/RPC. Remote buckets in a different region can add seconds of latency and cause missed endorsements.

We recommend running Fibre on a separate server from your validator rather than on the validator host itself for security reasons.

Thank you,
